NCYC

National Catholic Youth Conference
November 21-24, 2013
Indianapolis, Indiana

There is an NCYC Parent and Teen information meeting THIS Wednesday, February 20 at 7:30pm in the Life Teen Lounge.  Come find out more about NCYC and our fundraising options.

The National Catholic Youth Conference is held every two years and is an exciting, three-day experience of community, prayer and empowerment for Catholic teenagers and their adult chaperones. This is the largest gathering of Catholic youth in the nation!  Amazing Catholic artists and speakers will be leading the sessions and workshops, including Matt Maher, Jesse Manibusan, and Jackie Francois!

You can only imagine the energy that is generated by 25,000+ teens gathered in a football stadium! We will also take over the Indianapolis Convention Center – for NCYC it will be filled with a coffee house, basketball court, inflatable’s, Catholic stores, service opportunities, ways to express yourself artistically, and much, much more. Come experience Church in a way you’ve never encountered before.

We will travel to Indianapolis by bus – it’s only a 6 hour drive – and stay in a hotel with other teens from our diocese.  The registration fee is $499 and includes transportation and hotel. We will be doing lots of fundraisers with those who want to reduce the cost of the event, and scholarships are also available.

Consent Forms and $100 deposit are due March 3.

XLT

Tuesday, February 26, 2013
6:15-10pm
Center for Pastoral Leadership, Wickliffe

XLTXLT is a night of Eucharistic Adoration and incredible praise & worship music with teens from around the diocese. Join us for this powerful experience.

This XLT is different – In honor of the one-year anniversary, we will start with special Mass of remembrance for the victims of the Chardon tragedy.  Fr. Timothy Kalista will preside.  He was the Parochial Vicarthe at St. Mary, Chardon last year.

We will meet in the parking lot of St. Barnabas, near the rectory. Chaperones will drive there and back.

Download a Consent Forms and bring it with you.  Invite some friends to come with!

Spring Retreat

7pm Friday, March 15 – 6:30pm Sunday, March 17
Hiram House, Chagrin Falls

“It’s a life-changing experience you won’t forget.” ~ Past Participant

Step out of your normal routine and spend three days on ‘God’s Time’ – no stress, no chores; just unplug and live in the moment. The spring retreat is an unforgettable weekend planned by teens for teens. If you come with an open mind, you’ll learn something new about yourself and about God. Going on retreat is a great way to make new friends, strengthen ties to old ones, and have fun growing in your faith.

The retreat begins at 7:00pm on Friday night and ends at 6:30pm on Sunday. Participants must remain at the retreat center for the entirety of the retreat weekend.

Cost of the retreat is $85, which includes your stay at the retreat center, all meals, a t-shirt and more!

ALL high school teens are welcome – they don’t have to belong to St. Barnabas or even be Catholic. So bring some friends!

To sign up you need:

  • A Consent Form
  • Medical Form (if you have not already submitted one this school year)
  • A $85 check made payable to St. Barnabas. If this is a financial burden for your family, please write a confidential note and include the payment your family can afford. We will try to find scholarship money to cover the difference.

Turn in all items at a Life Night, drop them off to the rectory, or mail them to: St. Barnabas Life Teen, 9451 Brandywine Road, Northfield, Ohio 44067.

Once you’re signed up, you’ll receive more information in the mail, including what to bring (and what not to bring) on retreat.

Registration will be closed after February 17, OR when the retreat is full, whichever comes first.

Tickets are only $17 – we have great seats in the lower level near the net (that’s a $6 discount)!

It is $1 Hot Dogs & $1 Sodas night!

There are two options:

  1. Order your tickets by using this order form and get to the 7:30pm game on your own. Invite family and friends to join you! Ticket orders MUST be received in the rectory by Jan. 13.
  2. Teens and chaperones can come to the game with St. Barnabas Life Teen. You will need to submit your Consent Form and $17 fee by Jan. 13 to the rectory or the Life Teen Lounge. Christmas Party

Sunday, December 16, 5:30-8:30pm

Join us for our Last Life Night of 2012!

As always, we will start with 5:30pm Mass, then head to the Parish Center for our party. St. Mary Life Teen from Hudson will join us for dinner and a gingerbread house building contest. (You will need to use the items provided to build your house.) Come show your skills!

There is a rumour that we might have a guest from up North join us, too. (No, not Francine’s native land – he’s from even north of Canada.)

See you Sunday!

Steve Angrisano

Sunday, December 9 and Monday, December 10 from 6-9:15pm

We have been invited by the teens of St. Clarence Youth Ministry to join them for their Parish Mission with Steve Angrisano, so we are taking our Dec. 9 Life Night on the road!  He will be there both Sunday and Monday evening.  Come to one or both evenings!

Steve is an amazing speaker, youth minister and singer/songwriter.  He has been the emcee for quite a few National Catholic Youth Conferences, and was just in Cleveland in September for the Diocesan Youth Rally.

We will NOT be attending the 5:30pm Mass together that Sunday, nor will we be eating dinner together, so make sure you go to Mass earlier that weekend and eat before you come!

Volunteers will drive teens to and from the event. We will meet in the church parking lot near the rectory.

Consent Forms are due Sunday, Dec. 2 and can be dropped off in the rectory or Life Teen Lounge.
